One of the greatest Saivite saints, Tirunavukkarasar is credited with the reestablishment of Hinduism in South India following the rise of nastika traditions. Popularly known as Appar, he was one of the most prolific Tamil Saiva poets and a great exponent of Saiva Siddhanta, visiting hundreds of temples and composing hymns in honor of Shiva. Appar’s message of service to God and fellow humans has timeless appeal among the faithful, and his impact on the religious and social life of the Tamil people is remarkable. Vishvakarma, the Architect of the Gods, is the presiding deity of craftsman, artisans and builders in the Hindu cosmology. He is the manifestation of the creative power of the Supreme Being and designed the tripartite universe consisting of the mortal world, the heavens and the netherworld at the behest of Brahma, the Creator. Vishvakarma also built the palaces of the Gods as well as their many weapons and chariots. The 1600 year old Karpaka Vinayakar Temple in Pillayarpatti is one of the oldest and most popular Hindu shrines in south India. A rock cut cave temple featuring a massive sculpture of Vinayakar, the temple also has ancient images of other Hindu deities. His Holiness Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati Swamigal was the Paramacharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham from 1907 until 1994. Born on May 20, 1894, he was installed as the head seer of the Kanchi Math at the age of 13 and presided over an important period for the monastery and India as a whole. During his tenure, the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham gained new strength as a leading Hindu institution, propagating the teachings of Adi Shankara and espousing Vedanta philosophy. Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati was also very concerned with the preservation of the Vedas and Dharma Shastras. He attained samadhi in his centenary year in Kanchipuram.

The Malaysia Hindu Dharma Mamandram (MHDM) is proud to launch the Mamandram Magazine, an online publication aimed at a global audience featuring various aspects of the world’s oldest religion and issues of interest to Hindus. As MHDM’s official publication, Mamandram Magazine will be published quarterly, with the first issue due out in October 2008. Along with articles and editorials about Hindu religion, culture, history and traditions, Mamandram Magazine will also be the primary media outlet for MHDM efforts and events.
The Mamandram Magazine aims to inform and educate Hindus worldwide on the eternal teachings of Hindu Dharma and to present a truthful and objective description of the religion to non-Hindus interested in learning about Hinduism.
