Malaysia Hindhudarma Mamandram, which is often referred to as MHDM, completed yet another successful event on 4.4.2011 where two noteworthy achievements were made. The National Level Launch of the MHDM Book Project was without doubt a success which is worth its place in MHDM’s long history.
The event which started at about 6pm in Dewan Tan Sri K.R. Soma in Wisma Tun Sambanthan, Kuala Lumpur was officiated by the Minister of Human Resources and Deputy President of MIC, Datuk Dr.S. Subramaniam. There were a total of about 100 participants who attended this meeting which includes MHDM’s Patron Tan Sri K.R. Somasundram, Nyanasiriar Aiya K.Sathaya, Uma Publications’ Managing Director Datuk A. Sothinathan, Chairman of the Tamil School Headmasters’ Council Mr.P.Doraisamy, Organizer of Tamil Schools in Selangor, Mr.A.Vallikannan, and GOPIO Secretary Mr.K.Raju.
Religious education has been MHDM’s flagship project for more than 20 years now. After more than 10 years of research and hard-work, MHDM produced Hindu Dharma Education Syllabus, Teacher Guide and Prarthanai Paamalai in 1999. MHDM with the support of various organizations including State Education Departments, Teacher Unions, and Headmasters Council conducted training for teachers starting with Johore. To date, MHDM has trained more than 1000 teachers nationwide.
The launch of the National Hindu Dharma Text-books project is certainly a mile-stone in MHDM’s long history. To complement the efforts already in place, this initiative will make available Hindu Dharma Text-books for 6 levels which could be used by individuals and students who would like learn about the basics of Hinduism. MHDM will make the necessary changes to the books produced by Dharma Mamani K.Kumara Kuruparan and his team based on the feedback obtained through the pilot project conducted in Tamil Schools in Negeri Sembilan. MHDM will work with Uma Publications to produce these books to be distributed to schools and sold in the open market. MHDM will also seek support from individuals and institutions to make available these books to students in Tamil Schools nationwide.
Further, at this function, after almost a year of anticipation, Datuk Dr. S. Subramaniam presented a cheque from the Prime Minister’s Department carrying a value of RM250,000.00 to aid in carrying out the activities of MHDM. This was definitely a welcomed gift by the NGO bearing in mind that in most instances, finance becomes an issue when service needs to be rendered to those who need it the most.
In short, the event which boasted a handsome crowd and much blessings, ended with a bang knowing that both the well-intended project as well as substantial funds were now part of the organisation’s future. Thank you.
The Malaysia Hindu Dharma Mamandram (MHDM) President Professor Dr. N.S. Rajendran's speech to the Arul Nilayam's. The speech is to be included in all the 2011 branch AGM's.
Hinduism is not just a faith. It is the union of reason and intuition that cannot be defined but is only to be experienced. Evil and error are not ultimate. There is no Hell, for that means there is a place where God is not, and there are sins which exceed his love.
